Criminal Investigations Bureau
The Detective Bureau meets daily to discuss current trends and pending cases, interacting with other agencies' investigative bureaus and often helps coordinate such things as arrest and search warrants. The Detective Bureau has the common goal of improving the quality of life in the community by concentrating on those people in society who commit crime.

Dispatch
The Festus Police Department Communications Center is staffed, 7 days per week, 24 hours per day, by 7 civilian dispatchers, 1 civilian supervisor, under the command of the Captain. Their duties include, but are not limited to, answering all 911 calls and all non-emergency calls for service, classifying, prioritizing and dispatching the appropriate Police Department, Fire Department, and Ambulance personnel to calls for service, monitoring their status while on the calls, as well as supplying any additional information needed during the duration of the call, data entry and retrieval in the various law enforcement computer systems, assisting citizens that walk into the station, along with after hour’s emergency calls for all city services.

Patrol Division
The Patrol Division is the “backbone” of the department, charged with preventing criminal activity, protecting life and property, preserving the peace, check suspicious persons and vehicles, investigate crimes and offenses, and make arrests. The patrol officer has many different roles, they act as a protector, law enforcer, investigator, counselor, problem solver, peacekeepers, and an interpreter of the law. This division provides pro-active patrol and efficient response to reported incidents, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, within the City of Festus.

School Resource Officer / D.A.R.E.
The Festus Police Department, in conjunction with an agreement with the Festus R-6 School District, has four full-time officers assigned to the schools in the position of School Resource Officer. They are Corporal Mike Cavaness, DSN 55, Patrolman Andrew Houston, DSN 64, Patrolman Jaymes Brookshire, DSN 63, and Patrolman Richard Placke, DSN 53. These officers are trained and certified D.A.R.E. instructors.
