We are pleased to offer several databases for research and enjoyment.
Access
To access some of the databases below, you must have an active library card with The Festus Public Library. You may also have to create an account in the database to access all of the features.
When prompted to enter your library card number, entire the entire 14 digit card number.
Resources
Find fiction and non-fiction for both adults and children with more than 33,000 titles with unlimited simultaneous downloads. 21-day check out period. *Note: an EBSCOhost account is needed to check out materials.
EBSCOhost is a powerful online reference system accessible via the Internet. It offers a variety of proprietary full text databases and popular databases from leading information providers. With the new Explora interface, you’ll not only have access to the same research content from EBSCO, but also additional content including grade level topic overviews, health videos and Associated Press videos that are not currently available in the Kids Search and Student Research Center interfaces.

Teen Health and Wellness
Teen Health and Wellness This award-winning resource provides middle and high school students with up-to-date, nonjudgmental, self-help support. Articles are correlated to state, national and provincial standards. Topics covered include diseases, drugs, alcohol, nutrition, mental health, suicide, bullying and LGBTQ+ information. It has recently been updated to meet the needs of today’s teens and with new content on bullying, suicide, vaping, opioid abuse, gender identity, school safety, sexual harassment, COVID-19 and more.
Digital Literacy
Digital Literacy Empower learners with digital citizenship skills to navigate today’s virtual landscape. Interactive activities guide students through project-based learning activities using digital tools to create podcasts, multimedia presentations, social media campaigns, and more. Database articles explore cyberbullying, digital research skills, citizen journalism, and more. Digital Literacy will give your students and patrons the skills to be savvy digital citizens!
Financial Literacy
Financial Literacy The Rosen Financial Literacy database makes economics and personal finance easy to understand and highly engaging. Articles explore macro-, micro-, and global economics as well as personal and household finance. Users will learn to manage credit and debt, save and invest with confidence, plan for college and retirement and avoid fraud and scams. Financial Literacy is online economics and personal finance resource specifically designed for students in grades 7–12, but can easily benefit adults.
Brainfuse VetNow
Brainfuse VetNow is an all-in-one suite of services designed for a wide range of veteran needs: whether it’s updating a resume for civilian life, navigating the VA system, or seeking local resources and support for veterans and their families. VetNow services include expert coaching and self-study tools to empower users. Users may access live, on-demand assistance from expert Job Coaches or Veteran Navigators. With VetNow, users communicate in real-time in our online whiteboard by typing, drawing, and marking-up lessons and web content. Plus, users can use our secure file sharing feature in the resume lab to submit career documents to our Job Coaches any time of the day. The Brainfuse full-service test center offers practice tests for all levels in math, reading, and writing as well as college preparatory tests - including the SAT.
Book Connections
Book Connections offers over 269,000 digital materials about books for children and teens. This service includes a reader's advisory tool, resources for homework help, summer reading, diverse book selections, and more! Meet authors and illustrators with exclusive movies and recordings, hear authors pronounce and tell the stories of their names, and explore book trailers!

Access to EBSCOhost, HeritageQuest, LearningExpress Library, Teen Health and Wellness, Digital Literacy, and Financial Literacy is provided to eligible MOREnet members through funding by the Missouri General Assembly for the REAL Program. This appropriation is made to the Secretary of State's Office and is administered by the Missouri State Library. Additional funding for these resources is provided by MOREnet member fees.

Jobs.mo.gov is the web portal for information and online services provided by the Missouri Division of Workforce Development (DWD). DWD provides workforce services for businesses and job seekers. In Missouri, DWD serves as the state agency that administers the federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) and Wagner-Peyser funding for workforce activities.
Jefferson County Libraries
Festus Public Library cardholders have reciprocal borrowing privileges with Crystal City Public Library. Cards may be purchased at De Soto Public Library and Jefferson County Library.
