ABOUT
The governing body for the City of Festus, Missouri is a Mayor and an eight-member City Council. The mayor serves a 4-year term and is elected at large. Council Members serve a two-year term and are elected by citizens in each of four wards.
Council Duties
The City Council is the legislative and policy-making body of the city. The Council sets city policy by passing ordinances and resolutions. The Council approves the city budget, appoints and supervises the City Administrator, and generally oversees city functions. Additionally, the Council approves city development and takes action on recommendations from the Planning and Zoning Board.
